How come so many people believe this kind of stuff?

asked:

Excuse the exclamation, but really why is the law so strict on drug laws? Its insane. 7 years for Magic Mushroom possession, UNLIMITED for selling… This is just one example. The most obvious other example is pot being illegal. Crimes against other people or others property should be illegal, not what people choose to do to themselves. Prohibition doesn’t work. It usually just makes the government (and its prohibition supporters) seem stupid. Am I actually the stupid one for thinking this? What do most of you think?

Would less people die from drug-related causes if:?

RogerDodger asked:

Which of the following scenarios would lead to the lowest illegal-drug-related deaths. (By ‘drug-related deaths’, I mean both crime and overdose, and fatal sickness caused by illegal drug use and crime.) The best answer will have the courage to articulate their stance. (I’m hoping for an interesting read/argument.)

A) All drugs are legal.
B) Death penalty for any possession of illegal drugs.
C) Drug laws remain unchanged.

Is it a crime in itself to USE illegal drugs? Would you be charged with possession in this case?

mrskimmyl asked:

I’m trying to determine what, if anything, a person could be charged with for having used an illegal drug. This is under the assumption that the person had no drugs on them, and was breaking no other laws (like DUI). As though they walked into the police department, said “I’m just taken ecstasy/smoked marijuana/etc., what are you going to do about it?” Anyone?
