Eun Sun: You said, “Its a crime because drugs damage peoples lives, they tear apart families and fuel a lot of other crimes the person wouldnt have commited without the influence of drugs.”
Interestingly, imprisoning people for possession, tears families apart AND imposes economic hardships on the family who has just lost an income earner to the prison system. How does prison time rectify the problems you just mentioned?

I agree. Trafficking in drugs should be the target, from the top down. Of course that would land no few bankers and politicians in the hoosegow.
It should be a small fine for pot, maybe $ 10 or so.
YES! it should.
Without users there would be no need for pushers.
Drug users commit crimes to get drug money.
Drug users use needles and get diseases which they spread and we have to pay for their treatment.
Drug users are pathetic creatures who should always be locked up for their own good and ours.
Our violent crime fate would drop precipitously if we eliminated all thre drug users.
Did you see about the poor user who had 10 pounds of pot when he got into an accident today? When the cops hit his house they found almost 7 tons worth 6,000,000.
I think he should get life or the death penalty.
in western countries, generally it is a low level crime. If we’re talking grass, or even a pill.
possession is more serious if its ‘possession with intent to sell’ – a lot of grass or a lot of pills.
Its a crime because drugs damage peoples lives, they tear apart families and fuel a lot of other crimes the person wouldnt have commited without the influence of drugs.
If you have no priors and its a small amount then youll most likely get off.
But if your a repeat offender, carrying a lot of it, travelling with it, or being shady when your caught then your in trouble.
