Drug Possession: A Life Sentence…for Marijuana Possession!?!

A Louisiana man has been sentenced to life in prison after getting caught for the fourth time in possession of a sellable quantity of marijuana. 35 year old Cornell Hood II of Louisiana was arrested recently for possessing 2 pounds of marijuana. Unfortunately for him, this was his fourth conviction of marijuana possession with intent to sell. Previous three got him deferred sentences–so basically he’s never served any jail time. But, this time, because of Louisiana’s 3-strikes law, the judge sentenced him to life in prison after the Assistant DA Nick Noriea Jr. argued that his past convictions meant that Hood was a career criminal worthy of a severe punishment. Life in prison!! wtf?!!

  • REDRAPIST:

    America needs to wake the fuck up. We can’t continue to let this shit happen.

    Ron Paul 2012

  • LighterOfDewbies:

    The petition also needs to request a harsh punishment on the judge who delivered this sentence. If judges are willing to ruin peoples’ lives with absurd punishments like this just for the hell of it, there should be some risk involved. I hope the judge doesn’t just get a slap on the wrist and some punishment is meted out.

    wot da fuck?

  • upt123:

    Wow … talk about a “miscarriage” of justice. A guy with a pot problem who’s on his way back to college and is a non-violent offender gets life; while repeat rapist, killers, politicians and their DUI-always kids get off easy. What about Cornell or better yet, his son without his father. Sheen, Lohan, and others are in and out of jail … St. Tammany Parish this is one time too many, I’m headed to the petition NOW! FREE CORNELL !!!

    @TheRimDoctor I don’t need healthcare — I know how to take care of my own health with plant-based food & medicine and don’t go to pill-pushing doctors. People that are clueless about their health love their healthcare.

  • blakmira:

    @TheRimDoctor You still believe the propaganda about the Republican vs. Democrat major parties being any different? haha. Again, stay in Canada & keep your clueless opinions about America to yourself.

  • TheRimDoctor:

    @blakmira Gladly if it means I keep my healthcare.

  • blakmira:

    @TheRimDoctor You know NOTHING about what’s going on here. It’s obvious you’ve been educated with propaganda. Stay in Canada.

  • TheRimDoctor:

    @blakmira

    I’m in Canada. We could care less about your wars and battles. No, Obama is not a peace bringer with the laurel wreathe, but I won’t say hes a warmonger. Escalated wars as in the US helped the rebel forces, which is exactly what all of your presidents have been doing since the end of WWI. In fact, if the United states did not help at all, you’d blame Obama for leaving innocents to die. The wheels are off the bus in America, and it was a pretty short bus to begin with.

  • blakmira:

    @TheRimDoctor You’re 20 yrs old? Were you even taught the truth about Vietnam war in high school?Ever heard of Gulf of Tonkin?Didn’t think so.You’re in complete denial to believe the word “warmonger” doesn’t apply to Obama–someone who promised peace, instead escalated 3 Middle Eastern wars(now working on Pakistan)–since when does dropping bombs on innocent civilians restoring human rights? Stop being a blind apologist for a man who couldn’t care less about you OR your “rights.”

  • blakmira:

    @doit420sdf Bush was advised to get congressional approval for his illegal wars to boost support. But things have deteriorated so rapidly to the point now that Obama no longer even needs anything but a big middle finger to U.S. citizens. The message to us is: Don’t like it? Tuff sh&t. We’re doing it anyway.

  • TheRimDoctor:

    @doit420sdf Goddamn you’re nuts

  • doit420sdf:

    @TheRimDoctor – I get it. You don’t care if civilians die, or if countries like the US and UK break international laws to enforce their oil and currency empires by attacking sovereign nations, arming insurections, or committing assassinations without trials.. This is a horrific situation which you are supporting, I only hope Obama supporters IN the states come to their senses and call this warmonger out as they should.

  • TheRimDoctor:

    @doit420sdf If its killing Libyan forces and Gadhafi aswell, I say go for it.
