Website: www.facebook.com Though he grew up in a close-knit family, Joe has felt lonely and isolated all his life. As a child, he was excluded by his peers and didn’t get the affection and acceptance he needed from his father. At age eight, Joe learned “the choking game,” in which a person uses his hands to cut off the oxygen supply to his brain to get high. Joe loved the sensation, and secretly choked himself regularly throughout childhood as a way of dealing with his pain. In high school, Joe discovered drugs and alcohol; he began using heroin at 18 and has been addicted for the past six years. Now, living in a motel, he often steals to support his addiction, and he has been arrested and jailed several times for drug possession and theft. He has gone through treatment programs before but has always relapsed soon afterward.

There have been very few times during my years of watching “Intervention” that I wish I could actually track the recovered addict down, hug them, and tell them how awesome they truly are. Joe is one of them. I hope he is still doing well, and I wish him the best!

His dad finally manned the fuck up and admitted that he was one of the root causes of Joe’s addiction. All it took for Joe to agree to get help was for his dad to finally show Joe a small sliver of respect. Imagine that.

yeah his dads a dick, and it seems like his siblings are really good at making him feel like a failure. I feel for him, I wanna give him a huge hug for his bravery and amazing person.
I am very happy with the end of this story..that he was able to get help and be consistent with it and the fact that he was ready to be a better person. I really thank God for him. way to go Joe.

Joe looked great after cleaning up. He was really super incredibly sick looking when he was using. I wished they would have said more about his piano playing and if he’s going to pursue something w/ that. He’s really good and i think he could achieve alot through his music. I used to live in IL, my dad used to work in Rockford – small world.
Wow, what a cold arse family! I wish Joe all the luck in the world though. He’s a lovely, intelligent, and handsome young man. His eyes are amazing!
