Drug Possession: Jon Stewart Criticizes Chris Christie Marijuana Veto Hypocrisy

After gaining some momentum and media attention, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s proposed bill to decriminalize the possession of small amounts of marijuana was killed by the senate. And in a surprising reverse of circumstances, nearby New Jersey’s assembly approved a similar marijuana decriminalization bill, but Governor Chris Christie vetoed it. His reasoning? As long as marijuana possession is a federal crime, states should leave the issue alone. Jon Stewart had a few questions about Christie’s logic. Namely, how it could be okay to circumvent federal policy for something like sports gambling, but then adhere to it for marijuana possession.
