Cocaine Possession Laws: Question Concerning Marijuana and Position on It?

Question by Nick: Question Concerning Marijuana and Position On It?
Okay here’s my little story, I’m 18, been smoking bud since I was 16. I am not a pothead who sits around and smokes weed all day, I’ll blaze up occasionally on the weekends just to wind down and have fun with friends. My parents have caught me with it before and have made a semibig deal about it and whatnot, but recently they found 2 grams in my car and called the cops. Now I have a misdemeanor and have to pay a bunch of money to the courts and all this bullshit.

Now, I have used everything in the book to convince my parents how weed is harmless, that I am locked in my gate and not going to do anything else, nor want to, knowing the unnecessary risks and effects on the body. Now I have told them that all I will do is smoke my cigarettes, drink, and smoke my herb, and I think I’ve convinced my mom that I won’t do anything else, and no matter what I say, their stance on the situation is always this, “It is illegal. You need to follow the law.” WHO THE **** MADE THE LAW JESUS! The law has been wrong in the past, and prohibition has not worked in the past, and it is not working now, people will always smoke weed, and their uneducatedness on the subject of cannabis annoys me, so what can I do to convince them to change their stance, they are so closed minded and don’t understand…

Also, what is your position on the legalization of marijuana. The governent would benefit billions of tax dollars. Look at the tax they earn off cigarettes, tax it double what they do of cigarettes, and imagine how many more people who would be apt to buy weed than tobacco. 25 percent of USA population smokes cigarettes (24% female and 26 % male). It would stop people from going into risky drug deal situations, you always know you will be getting quality bud and the amount you are getting, and I could go on forever of the benefits of it. They could regulate it like they do alcohol. Plain and simple, millions of people having more respect for the law and avoiding unneccessary arrests and red marks on your record.

One more thing I think is bullshit: Marijuana can be tested in your body from anytime between 3 and 6 weeks (using urinalysis) Whereas any other harder drug (cocaine for example) is out of your system in 2-4 days. So people get away with doing hard, dangerous substances but get caught smoking some reefer a month after they do it. This is affecting thousands trying to get into the military, government, etc.

You should read credible sources concerning the health risks of smoking marijuana. It is NOT “risk free.”

There are several reasons why marijuana was illegalized, however, based upon current medical risks…it continues to stay illegal.

Some states have decriminalized marijuana possession which I agree with. However, total legalization will create more problems than already exist.

The argument that cigarettes and alcohol are worse isn’t true either. All three have their downfalls but just because two are bad doesn’t justify adding a third bad drug!

My own step-son followed his fathers footsteps when it came to using marijuana and other illicit drugs. It’s sad to see how both destoryed their lives and continue to break laws which ultimately place them behind bars.

Some think “spice” is a happy medium between illicit drugs and abstinence…again…statistics show this is even worse since only the manufacturer knows what is sprayed onto the product that causes so many mood swings and violence.

I served in the military for 20 years and guarantee those who don’t get in the military because of their illicit drug use is a Godsend. I can just see an engine mechanic working on Air Force One high as a kite. Or how about the pilot who mis-targets his gunsight onto a civilian target killing innocent women and children.

There is more important in life than getting high on drugs or alcohol. My suggestion…grow up and learn to deal with rules established by the majority of citizens who do not want marijuana legalized.

Instead…why not do something productive like see what’s destroying your country and do something positive about that!
