Question by urellspain: police found drugs in apartment from my sons friend. both are in jail. Why am I being ask to leave.?
Landlord has given me 30 days to vacate. I had nothing to do with this. Nor did I have knowledge of this.Lease is in my name only. I have explained to LL that no one will live here with me at all. I’ve been here 5 years and never late on payments.
I am renting a house in Pa.

You are responsible for all actions of your guest on the property. Even though you had no knowledge of the drugs the landlord has every right to evict you over it. Pretty low of him to do thou.

More Illegal Drug Possession Information…
The legal principle is “vicarious liability”. You are ultimately responsible.
There is another legal principle called “constructive possession”. This means if there is something illegal in an area you control, it can be considered yours. You are fortunate you didn’t go to jail too.
Your landlord has the right to evict you and your family if you or anyone you know commit a crime on the landlord’s property. Regardless of your knowledge or lack there of the crime. Next time do not let your son hang around criminals, and don’t let his friends in to your house.
Better keep closer tabs on your kids. If its your apt., then your responsible.
