That’s never going to happen, but you do make a good point. How much police car gas is wasted and people’s time and tax money paying for someone criminalized for marijuana?
It should, and I’m sure the usage would go down on it as well, as many people do it mainly for the thrill of getting illegally high.
regulation and control is better than prohibition. I’d like to make it harder for a kid to get a joint. Just like it’s hard for a kid to get a beer. Today, a kid’s first drug is pot. because it’s easier to get than a beer or pack of cigarettes. It would be a lot better if you had to show an ID to get pot.
Yeah, legalize it!!!
I can get you a nice brownie recipie.
well, I don’t know about economic reasons, but I understand that industrial hemp is a much better source of alternate fuel than corn or even sugar cane. Did you know the Model T was engineered to run on Hemp Oil?
Also, after all these years, it still seems less dangerous for a person than alcohol. Yeah, I guess I’d be ok with legalizing personal use, not sales, at least, only of that drug. Of course, the whole question should be out of federal jurisdiction, all together.
A truly free people would be allowed to do anything they want in the privacy of their own home, the caveat being that your freedom stops at the end of your fist and the beginning of your neighbor’s face.
Yes…Its just a way to get money out of people..and fill our already over crowded jails and prisons…its not a good idea to smoke it…but I must tell you…you can only get so high on pot…you could smoke a whole bag and never get any higher…just waste it from that point on…booze…by the time you feel your second one you have already drank a few more and on your way to being really messed up…booze is way more dangerous to me… you can drink with your meals and drive off drunk…makes no sense to me…if you smoked pot and ate your buzz would be gone…food gets rid of it almost instantly.. I don’t condone smoking maryjane…it makes people lazy and they loose their ambition for life….I do think they put too much time and energy into pot eradication…..after watching Oprah yesterday they need to invest all the pot money into capturing the parents and or people who molest the little children! that’s way way way worse than getting a buzz on pot…
No I don’t think it should be legalized just to legalize it.
You pose a very timely question. This article dated Sept. 15, 2008 states,
“Marijuana Arrests For Year 2007: 872,721 Tops Record High -Five Percent Increase Over 2006-
Washington, DC: Police arrested a record 872,721 persons for marijuana violations in 2007, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s annual Uniform Crime Report, released today. This is the largest total number of annual arrests for cannabis ever recorded by the FBI.
“Enforcing marijuana prohibition costs taxpayers between $ 10 billion and $ 12 billion annually and has led to the arrest of nearly 20 million Americans.
Cannabis arrests now comprise nearly 47.5 percent of all drug arrests in the United States.
Of those charged with marijuana violations, approximately 89 percent, 775,138 Americans were charged with possession only.”

This is a ridiculous waste of taxpayers’ money! Marijuana is significantly less dangerous than either alcohol or tobacco. Conversely, it has medicinal value. It would make much more sense to decriminalize marijuana, & then regulate it and tax it in the same way that tobacco and alcohol are taxed.
I have never read of even one incident where the use of marijuana caused anyone to beat his or her spouse or children, shoot or knife anyone, or cause a fatal car accident. Alcohol is notoriously famous for all of those crimes, and many more,.
Despite the myths, marijuana is neither addictive nor a gateway drug. http://www.drugpolicy.org/marijuana/factsmyths/ I find it profoundly disturbing that our nation continues to perpetuate the myths of marijuana, rather than the scientific facts. Sadly, this kind of ignorance is typical of many Americans many of whom also attempt to dispute global warming, even in the face of scientific data.
Bahahahaa…………I LOVE your added “details”!!! You are a total STITCH!!!! Alas I too have asthma, and personally would like to impose the death penalty for smoking………
I can accept medicinal purposes………but have no desire to push it further than that.
I would simply not be in favor of any legislation that encourages MORE smoking. Marijuana or otherwise. Asthma sufferers have rights too!
for me marijuana should be forbidden. this is a drug and ended of the story
