How Bad Is a Drug Paraphernalia Charge and Should an Attorney Be Hired?

Question by Jack: How bad is a drug paraphernalia charge and should an attorney be hired?
Im 17 years old from new jersey. My friend’s car was pulled over and they found marijuana on his jacket. As the cops were chasing him he told me to hide the bowl and i put it in my pocket. The police told me that i will receive a mail to my house with the location and date of the juvenile court. I want to know what to expect. Is this gonna be put on my records? how much will i be fined? or will it be community work? do i need to hire an attorney? thanks.
