Question by psychosolodiver: How is prison suppose to rehabilitate anyone?
How is living in a tiny 10 by six cell with someone else, eating slop, getting butt raped or stabbed suppose to rehabilitate anyone?
Wouldn’t someone subjected to that for even a few hours or days come out even more psychotic and socially maladjusted?

the human psyche is extremely powerful. It resists change to an almost unbelievable extent. The two sets of environments I know of [legal ones] that have the power to possibly bring a person to a fundamental change of character are military training and prison. [Any organized attempt in a first world country to bring that degree of pressure to bear in any other way would be deemed torture. The mental hospitals usually can’t invoke enough power to accomplish the transformation job, which is why their cure statistics are so poor.]

My buddy got stopped by some cops last night and they searched him and found that he had .2 grams of DMT. They handcuffed him and put him in the back of the cop car and ran all of his information. They took the drugs, but they released him and told him to go home. If he was going to be charged with something, wouldn’t they have taken him to jail right then? He has no previous record at all. They also told him that they had to “test” the substance. Were they just using this as a scare tactic? Or, is there a possibility that they will contact him in the next few days and try to charge him with possession?

My boyfriend recently went to jail on 6-19 because one of his terms of probation is no drinking, well now hes in jail because he was drinking and his p/o violated him, whats the most time he can get for violating his probation this way?
I cant get any answers from his p/o or from the 17th district court, please help…….

Well – it depends on what state you are in – I am guessing NY – but I don’t know because their are many states that have 17th district courts.
