I am writing a research paper and I need to find out why the drug cocaine is Illegal besides it being addictive.

Because if people do cocaine some courts will let them off easy with big crimes that they do when high such as murder. In a case in 1973 a man ran over a mother and daughter but got off with 5 yrs for both the killings. Also because when people are high they cause damage to other people places and things. including themselves. And after long term use of cocaine people might become dependant on others and a liability. Not to mention the many deaths due to cocaine overdose which is blood on the governments hands if they legalize it. Also the gang wars which can sometimes be about drugs. Hope this helps.
