I can tell you one way that punishment was harsher for a minority when compared to a non minority.

Basically, the punishment for cocaine as crack was significantly harsher than the punishment for possession of powder cocaine. Crack/cocaine was more likely to be used by poorer minorities and powder cocaine was more likely to be used by better off non-minorities. So, basically, prison sentencing was harsher for blacks than whites when it came to cocaine. This isn’t exactly what you’re asking for, but it may help. I suggest reading Omi and Winant’s “Racial Formation in the United States.” It is an excellent book for a sociologist studying race.
