SAANICH – Police are asking for your help to solve the suspicious death of a woman found in a Saanich’ Colquitz River Park on Sunday. It was in the thick bushes, steps from a paved walkway that the body of a 26-year old woman was discovered by a ten year old boy. It’s an area now marked by trails and brush cut away by detectives investigating the suspicious death. Today Saanich Police confirmed the woman’s identity; 26-year old Shannon Elizabeth Rogers. “We are asking the public if they have any information as to when Shannon might have last been in the downtown area, or anywhere in the Capital Region, we would ask them to call our major crimes tip line”. Sgt. Dean Jantzen told reporters. That information could be key to solving what happened to Reynolds before her body was found. She lived in an apartment complex on Field Street next to the Bay Street Armoury. Police say the building is known to be frequented by addicts and drug dealers. “We are actively trying to reach and engage that population”, says Jantzen “It is a big reason why we have asked for assistance from the City of Victoria’s Major Crime Unit”. Sources tell /A\ News, the street population is cooperating and providing investigators with information. Court records show Rogers was on probation at the time of her death, convicted of drug possession. And /A\News has learned she reported to a probation officer on June 2.
