Drug Possession: Charlie Sheen – Alcohol,Drugs and Prostitutes

NORMAL OR ABNORMAL BEHAVIOR:

Having had my own challenges with alcohol and drugs, I believe Charlie’s behavior is perfectly normal, for someone who is an alcoholic and drug addict – inflated ego, delusions of grandeur, better and smarter than anyone else, blame everybody else for his problems except himself, judgmental, angry, verbally and physically abusive, unforgiving, vindictive, and can justify any kind of behavior. And, lastly, his complete denial that his life, other than his financial situation is completely out of control is typical of an addict.

RESPECT HIM MORE OR LESS:

I do not respect him either more or less. I feel sorry and embarrassed for him. The 1st Step in AA or any 12 Step Program is admitting that we have a problem and that our life is unmanageable. I denied that myself for years until 22 years ago when I hit my bottom and finally had to admit that I was mentally, physically, spiritually and financially bankrupt and out of control and that my life was unmanageable. I came to believe over a period of time that a power greater than myself could return me to sanity and sense of discipline, commitment and responsibility.

Contrary to Charlie’s criticism of AA, it truly saved my life and has given me more happiness, peace of mind and joy than I could have dreamed.

My hope for Charlie is is that he truly has a wake up call, loses everything and finally has to get on his knees and ask for help.

CBS’s DECISION TO FIRE HIM:

Was it justified? Absolutely! His outrageous behavior during non-working hours reflects directly on CBS and the show and has a negative impact on the public image of both. His outrageous comments about CBS and his boss are unacceptable by any stretch of the imagination.

GROUNDS TO SUE CBS:

Does he have grounds to sue CBS? I am not an attorney, so my answer is that I do not know. I suppose, that based on a strict legal interpretation of the law, maybe he does have a case. However, I personally believe that there is a higher law than man made laws. In view of his apparent lack of ethics, morals, values, integrity, character, honesty, his lack of respect for common decency, his lack of respect for drug laws, and his previous legal history, I would say that he has zero grounds to sue.

In my opinion, the best thing that could happen to Charlie would be for him to be arrested for drug possession with intent to sell and sent to prison for a good, long time. Then, upon his release. as a condition of his probation, he should be required to attend a minimum of 6-12 months at an inpatient, drug and alcohol treatment program. My hope is that this happens before he kills himself or someone else.
