prison overcrowding: pretty self explanitory… too many inmates in a prison or jail
the severity of the problem depends on the state and type of prison (federal vs. state, maximum security vs. medium vs. minimal)
Solutions: building more prisons…successful for short term
giving more fines instead or jail terms…leaves criminals on the streets
giving shorter jail terms… lets criminals out earlier
anti-crime programs… varied success

If doesn’t exist, they should be packed in as tight as our sailors on submarines. No solution necessary at this time, prison should be as uncomfortable as possible. Very successful since it’s not a problem!

all others should receive a second chance to work for their money, and not be supported by tax payers.
Prison overcrowding is very serious. one in 142 people is in prison, which, when i stopped to think about was a helluva lot. So for the us, that’s 300000000/142… Prison overcrowding is when a prison has so many inmates, that the prison is over its maximum capacity and therefore add more beds and make single rooms double or double rooms triple. California alone is over twice its intended prison capacity. The only thing to really do is to either build more prisons or extend them (expensive), or release the convicts, which is not a very good choice either. The already tight quarters increase violence and the likeliness of riots, along with a lower chance of parole (because of the violence). So, the US is currently in a bad situation, but as usual, i have faith that we will make do. 🙂
It’s caused mainly by the so-called war on drugs, which puts many non-violent drug users behind bars leaving little room for the dangerous offenders. Prisons ought to be reserved only for people who commit crimes against other persons or their property, not for people who’ve done nothing more than screw themselves up.
Solutions: Take the murderers, rapists, and violent criminals out back and shoot them. The more non-violent criminals should be given enough jail time and put in programs that brainwash them into thinking differently. Some of the stuff people go to jail for should be other punishments and not jail.
illegals should be tried and then hung if they commit crimes to anyone in this country.
It’s bad. We’re letting people out too early and too often. We just need to build more prisons. We should have the prisoners work to pay room and board. If they can’t pay it, their family should. It’s not our fault there’s too many idiots in this country.
