Drug Possession: Intervention S09-E07 Joe – Self-Asphyxiation, Heroin 02/03
Website: www.facebook.com Though he grew up in a close-knit family, Joe has felt lonely and isolated all his life. As a child, he was excluded by his peers and didn’t get the affection and acceptance he needed from his father. At age eight, Joe learned “the choking game,” in which a person uses his hands to cut off the oxygen supply to his brain to get high. Joe loved the sensation, and secretly choked himself regularly throughout childhood as a way of dealing with his pain. In high school, Joe discovered drugs and alcohol; he began using heroin at 18 and has been addicted for the past six years. Now, living in a motel, he often steals to support his addiction, and he has been arrested and jailed several times for drug possession and theft. He has gone through treatment programs before but has always relapsed soon afterward.

JOE LOOKS LIKE TED BUNDY. Those crazed blue eyes that reflect his demons and that long, prominent nose…totally Ted (on heroin).
Why doesn’t Joe’s family show him some fucking LOVE instead of constantly making him feel like a worthless piece of shit?! He was bullied his entire life by his peers and rejected by his family from the very start. Hell, if my entire family treated me like I was a mistake I’d do heroin constantly, too. They already treat Joe like a social leper so he might as well be a social leper that’s high. He’s going to be treated like shit either way. At least heroin makes him happy for a short while.
Joe’s dad is such an asshole.
@booboohips —Asshole Bookends…LOL!! Yeah they should have some compassion for the addict and try to help him from there. Addict seems to be a really sensitive guy who said he’s lonely. Needs to be shown some love, then his Family can work from there—helping him to quit his addiction. The hate they’re throwing at him, makes the addict just want to use more….
The baby brother I feel sad for him because he isn’t strong enought to help himsefl 🙁 I hope he helps himself…
