Law Enforcement Against Prohibition? (LEAP) is fighting for legalization, but it does recognize that the leap from criminalized to legalized is not to happen, instead, baby steps are necessary.
I’m all for giving marijauna the same legal status as Alcohol, and the only reason anyone should be arrested for it is if they distribute it to others (because it is not subject to regulations), or get behind the wheel under the influence of it.

As a former counselor in an upstate NY prison I had many on my caseload who were minor offenders in the drug world. I had one drug kingpin who I supervised and he lived like a king in there. He wore handmade silk pants and never once ate prison food. His? food was all brought? in completely legally. Bloomberg is just trying to save money by not putting people in jail. This is not some form of Noblesse oblige. New York is still a brass-backwards state filled with greedy slickers and dumb hicks.
It’s the brewers & distillers that don’t want the competition, they have deep pockets, and have contributed to various campaigns against? the legalization of marijuana.
