Drug Possession: Singaporean arrested at Manila airport for drug possession – 21Jul2012



SINGAPORE: A Singaporean drug mule was arrested at Manila airport on Friday night for trying to transport three kilogrammes of methamphetamine hydrochloride, also commonly known as ‘Ice’ or ‘shabu’, into the Philippines. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said 42-year-old Danny Ng Boon Eng arrived at Manila airport from Bangkok via a Thai Airways flight. The illegal drugs were discovered during a routine inspection conducted by the Duty Customs Examiner. Authorities confiscated approximately three kilogrammes of the drugs placed inside a rectangular plastic package wrapped in black duct tape and hidden in his trolley bag. A follow-up operation also resulted in the arrest of a 43-year-old Nepalese woman who was supposed to pick up the illegal drugs from Ng in a hotel in Malate, Manila. Violation of Philippines’ anti-drug laws carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
