He mentions “violent crime” but the most violent crime I’ve seen in human history is white collar, political & economic crimes.
Why?
Simple, because while violent crime has emotional shock and hurts individuals, the others hurt & destroy thousands to millions of people.
This is what is called the “multiplier”. The human devastation in these multipliers is what needs attention. It is those criminals who should be subject to the harshest punishments, not the other way around.
