Decriminalization of All Drugs?

Question by honey cheeks: Decriminalization of all Drugs?
What would be your reaction if drugs were completely decriminalized that is no one would get arrested for possession or intake of all drugs, heroine, cocaine, marijuana etc?

And instead of being arrested people would be lead into treatment facilities as is done in Portugal. “Treatment not Punishment” ??

I’ve a feeling the answer most likely to work would be somewhere in the middle. Portugal’s experience hasn’t been an unmitigated success, nor has America’s experience of harsh criminalisation.

Personally I’d aim down the middle – treat users, prison dealers. That’s not as simple as it sounds because often the dealers are only bottom feeders operated by much harder to reach higher level operators, but it would seem the most likely to succeed.

I would be glad that people are once again free to make choices. As many know punishment shouldn’t be used to teach people. I think reward systems for not using drugs(from insurance policies and such) would be more appropriate. Though in the end its a personal decision anyways. I support decriminalization of all drugs, though your right rehab facilities would be a lot more prevalent.

Personally I believe marijuana should be legalized and things like heroine and cocaine should have harsher punishments.. I think that if someone OD’s and the taken substance can be traced back to a dealer then said dealer should do time for manslaughter.
