Do I Need to Get a Lawyer or Public Defender?

Question by Mike V: Do i need to get a lawyer or Public Defender?
just recently i got caught with less than .5 of cocaine and 30 grams of marijuana with a couple of baggies. The cops performed and illegal search without my consent, didnt even bother asking. I was charged with intent to sell, possession and transporting. The drugs were for self consumption and thats what i told the police. What will I be facing in the court of law? Do i need to get a lawyer or a public defender sounds fine? Will I be going to jail? This is my first offense and have never been arrested

Sounds like big trouble. Get legal advice. And stop doing drugs.

Play it safe and just get a public defender, don’t waste your money on a lawyer. Even though its your first offense some judges are assholes. If you get jail time it probably will only be a few days or weeks.

Hey, it seems you think you already have all the answers….

Just defend yourself, if you’re that smart.

Either a pd or private attorney would be fine. No one can answer if you will be doing jail time or not. It would depend on what agreement if any your attorney and the da come to, and it is at the judges discretion.
