How Is It Acceptable to Have a Former Cocaine User for President?

Question by flashy d: How is it acceptable to have a former cocaine user for President?
Is there no longer a line drawn in the sand? What happened to the days when it was unacceptable for somebody to use cocaine and worship a black panther preacher for 20 years?
Instead of assuming I voted for Bush why don’t you address the question.
How is it wrong to suggest Obama used cocaine when he said he used it?

Our current president is a former (maybe NOT former) cocaine user. It seems to be a trend.

Don’t worry…he will be gone in a couple of months.

    STFU BUSHBOT!

    OBAMA 2008!

  • Eat local, drink micro:

Are you hinting toward Obama or Bush with this question? They both tried cocaine.

  • ms wheedler:

Are you referring to George W Bush? You do know that he did cocaine in his younger years.

  • Unfrozen Caveman:

maybe you should have asked that 8 years ago

  • Ghost of Tom Joad:

Is that what people do in church, worship preachers? I always thought people went to church to worship god?

And I don’t think you were too concerned about Bush’s previous cocaine use, or his alcoholism for that matter.

  • first lady:

Marion Berry is running for president. Are you serious? Didnt see his name on the tickets i guess i will just scribble it in.

  • tonalc2:

We’ve had one for eight years.

  • ndmagicman:

GW Bush is a former cocaine user and heavy drinker. So what’s your point?

  • Bridge To Somewhere:

Sure. george w bush is a former cocaine user and you voted for him TWICE.

    McCain did CoCaine?

“A conversation between Bush and an old friend and author, Doug Wead, touched on the subject of use of illegal drugs. In the taped recordings of the conversation, Bush explained his refusal to answer questions about whether he had used marijuana at some time in his past. “I wouldn’t answer the marijuana questions,” Bush says. “You know why? Because I don’t want some little kid doing what I tried.” When Wead reminded Bush that the latter had publicly denied using cocaine, Bush replied, “I haven’t denied anything.””

It appears that the White House has hosted quite a few of them.

    Bush
    Clinton….just to name a couple…so what’s new?

  • prop4u:

    your an ass

  • timothy_k_weiss:

    Nobody cares! Get over it.

Having used drugs in your past is not a disqualification for president. If that’s so, probably a good portion of America is automatically disqualified.

  • bostonianinmo:

Well, we decided it was OK when we elected Bush. Game over on that issue.

But “Black Panther preacher?” Wow! That’s a stretch! Please post a link that exposes his membership in the Panthers, please!

    It isn’t… for the record.

But how is it acceptable for a Citizenry to ignore the treacherous interaction that resulted in Our Constitution? The most balanced contract in history and one geared specifically to maintain the decency of respect to persons not yet even born?

Let’s deal with one thing at a time…first things first… and FIRST will always be the Constitution.

Kind of disproves the idea that people who smoke weed and do coke will never amount to anything doesn’t it ?

  • ha l:

Um, did you know that McCain has a very close and continuous relationship with terrorist Gordon Liddy (who bombed stuff) and even defended his actions!!! DOuble standards! unbelievable! In fact, I’m about to make a question about it. Thanks, buddy. You inspire me.

It is a wonder. In 2001 they jumped all over President Bush for using cocain 20+ years prior. But Obama, it doesn’t matter. Where is the outrage that he used drugs in the past. If it is supposed to be a litmus test for one party, it should go both directions.

  • Robinson Cruz:

Because this year’s cocaine user is much more intelligent and a much better leader than the cocaine user who has been running the show for the last 8 years.

  • txplanter:

The line in the sand was wiped out in the early ’60s. You could say that the day the cold blooded murder of Lee Harvey Oswald was televised live represented the first swipe out of the line. Since then America has been on a steep downward spiral.

  • PragmaticRadical:

it’s acceptable because bush set the precedent.

some of us tried to draw a line in the sand at a northern patrician frat boy alcoholic coke head playing a texas cowboy oil man politician who worshiped southern evangelical preachers as president, but that didn’t stop the country from electing him. in more ways than almost anyone else bush has begat obama.

  • Matt D:

I think it is a perfectly legit question. That said, I believe that if he tried it and no longer does it, and has admitted it was a mistake, there’s no issue in my mind.
But Rev Wright (US of KKKA…) is totally different…to go to that church and not realize/know what was being said for 20 years says a lot to me at least. And there is no defense for it. If he had said he went for a month or 2 and decided to go somewhere else because Rev Wright was preaching nothing but hate, I would respect Obama for making that choice…but he stayed for 20 years. That’s part of the reason I don’t believe Obama trustworthy.

More concerning is the alliances he has had during his formative years. And not so distant past. Obama is a chronic liar. THAT’S pretty disturbing. Even known one?

I think all candidates should be given an MMPI test. An in depth Psychiatric evaluation before they are allowed to begin.
