I Recently Quit Cocaine and Heavy Drinking. Any Tips on How to Stay Sober?

Question by : I recently quit cocaine and heavy drinking. Any tips on how to stay sober?
I got in trouble with cocaine and I had problems with drinking too. I can’t focus, I can’t keep my mind off of it, and I can’t find a good way to spend my time. Do you have any tips on quitting?

Good for you!! Now the thing is you have to keep your mind off of it. Try to get involved in some activities such as a sport or something like that. Maybe even working out, there are plenty of things to do, go out and try to find some. But again good job I have seen many people fail to get off cocaine and end up dying addicts.

I would highly recommend attending an AA or NA type 12-step meeting. Whether you feel you were ever actually addicted to alcohol and cocaine or not, anyone can benefit from being in and listening to a group of people who are in the same boat as they are, dealing with an issue one day at a time.
Depending on how you feel about it, it might be a good idea to disassociate yourself from the friends/locations that you indulged with/in, at least for awhile, to avoid any relapses.
When you start to have cravings and can feel yourself getting crazy/emotional about it, remind yourself what is going on. Sometimes it can be easy to forget that whatever is being blown out of proportion isn’t what’s actually bothering you, but the addiction.
And take it one day at a time

I drank heavy and did lots of cocaine for a very long time. I ended up isolated drinking a half gallon a day and and who knows how much cocaine. I overdosed and almost died. That was my bottom. I ended up in the hospital then a treatment center. After the treatment center I went home and stayed with family for a while. I kept busy by starting a workout program and going to every AA and NA meeting I could get to. I took on responsibility of chairing some meetings. I had cravings for a long time but me being accountable to someone else, my fellow AA and NA friends and my sponsor, and the responsibility of chairing meetings I had to show up. After about 3 months I got a job and still went to meetings. That was 9 years ago…still go to meetings now…..I haven’t touched anything since…..I hope you can raise your bottom; get involved in something like I did to keep your mind focused and occupied. May God be with you……be blessed!

i will tell u the truth i know about this but if u can recieve it is a different story…..

    it is a spiritual battle

read galations chapter 5 mostly around verse 16 and read it from a king james version bible. you can look it up online. look up the fruits of the spirit.

did u ever go past a bar and see a sign saying food and spirits??? when you do drugs you are altering ur ability to recieve gods spirit on a daily basis called renewing of the spirtit.

read a book called the believers authority by kenneth hagen…

pray and pray and yes go to ca or na or aa meetings the people are different at each group so check them all out but the best tend to be the aa meetings even tho they are the hardest and sometimes dullest.

its is a battle of the spirit against the flesh.
i would talk to god and pray to and thru jesus saying thats ur sorry for what u have done and that u repent. just repent as much as u can.
if u believe that jesus died on the cross for ur sins then tell him that and ask him into ur heart. tell him u give him the power and authority to work in ur life and say out loud I Plea the Blood of Jesus.

find out what it really means to be saved and born again. then read John chapter 3 mainly all the versus before verse 16. make it ur memory chapter. trust no one and nothing and research all of it for ur self.

look up the history channel and see that they proved most all the bible and jesus to be real. as well as several colleges proved it all. and yes there is a lot of bad corrupt info and stuff out there . a lot of books were removed from the bible. j witness and catholics got so much extra junk they dont focus that much on Jesus. Jesus is the answer. I am I am. he is the beginning and the end. the alpha and omega the author and inventor of life!!!!!! read proverbs and read gennius. everytime u start a chapter circle it. then take notes in ur bible. remember it is a book and only a book untill u read it and that info into ur body makes it the living word of God as it interacts with ur spirit and ur soul and mind and body. tell jesus that u want to know him as your lord and personal savior.

this is a spiritual battle thats why u cant do it on ur own. thats why it changes a person. thats why it ruins lifes and cant be contorlled. if u put a thick wall between u and ur radio u cannot recieve a signal….. thats the same way it works with god and on a day to day basis we block him. God is so powerfull he is like bleah and were like germs thats why we condemed our selves when we sinned and thats why we need a mediatior an advocate we need a savior jesus. God is OMNI present and he allows stuff to happen to us. read in the bible about JOB. and remember ur whole life is only a blink of an eye to him.

God Bless you and God be with you, God speed. I plea the blood of Jesus. It means I ask for the Blood of Jesus the same blood that had to be shed to cover our sins.

Find something to keep your mind off of it. Some type of constructive hobby. Just be careful, you may flip from one addiction to the next. Everyone quits in a different way, but I think for most the underlying factor is they are ready to quit. Finding a mentor of sort can help, doesnt have to be a sponsor or whatever from AA. Just someone who perhaps has gone thru it or can relate, to give you a little boost and someone to talk to when the cravings kick in. Someone to reaffirm to you that you arent missing anything from that bottle or coke. Focus on your family if you have loved ones, think about how your hurting them. Think about how you can be a better person for them by staying clean.
