Is It Possible for Science to Make Cocaine Good?

Question by Lover: Is it possible for science to make cocaine good?
Like to get rid of all the negative side effects of taking cocaine, and just have a drug that only produces the positive things like being happy, confident and stuff like that. Do you think they can produce such a thing? Will somebody eventually develop something like this, like a new form of cocaine that doesn’t hurt you in the long-run?

Current anti-depressants are made with a form of cocaine. It’s already happened. But there are still “side effects”. Nothing is free. If you want to feel good, take vitamins.

The happy part is the worst part. It causes endorphins and serotonin to skyrocket in your brain, then plummet even lower than where they started. When people feel that great, the only way you can be happy again is abusing the drug which leads to addiction.

No, most of the negative side effects are a direct result of the “positive things” you mentioned. Cocaine itself is not especially toxic, but it causes mental devastation when used repeatedly mainly because of the unnatural feelings of happiness it causes. You brain gets used to the drug until it gets to the point that the drug is your only source of pleasure and you focus all your attention on using your drug of choice and let the rest of your life fall apart. There is no chemical change that could negate these effects and still cause euphoria.
