probably a felony conviction with a short prison time, $ 1,000 fine and 3 years probation (plus an aids test and drug classes)

Depends where at if your in california, Probally 1000 fine and probation if its your first offence

In all states in the US, possession of Methamphetamine is a felony charge. The charge is typically indicted and prosecuted in terms of quantity, container and location.
For example, if the defendant is caught with 1g of Crystal Meth while at a party at a friend’s house, this person would typically be charged only with possession.
If however the amount was 3.5g (street term – an “eight ball”) and the substance was in multiple bags, then the person would typically be charged with distribution and/or intent.
If the amount was 28g (an ounce) then they would typically be charged with trafficking.
Defendant would typically be indicted for as many possible charges as the DA could use. Each state has their own sentencing guidelines, however the current “war on drugs” is highly focused on combatting Meth. This is increasing the sentencing and decreasing the “alternative sentencing.”
