Why Do You Think Our Relationship to Cocaine & Amphetamines Is Bipolar So to Speak?
Question by Crystal Lane: Why do you think our relationship to Cocaine & Amphetamines is Bipolar so to speak?
Chapter 6: Stimulants
Many of the stimulants discussed in this chapter (amphetamines & cocaine) were originally, and at various times in their use within the United States considered to be highly addictive and other times considered relatively harmless.
Discuss why you think our relationship with these particular drugs has been so “bi-polar” so to speak. Do you think the current view is the most accurate one? Why or why not?

Hi Crystal… I’m 51y.o and have been addicted to amphetamine sulphate (speed, billy, whiz, fast etc) for 32 years!! I’m also a bi-polar depressive.. Let me assure you that there is nothing bi-polar about the drug no matter what these anally retentive and up their own ball bag type wankers say about it my friend? It is just a nasty addictive, life destroying, soul diminishing, dirty, nasty drug. I have’nt met 1 psychiatrist or drug worker who even has an realistic idea about why speed is so addictive etc? Hell there’s still a huge section in the trick cyclist dept that swear that speed is not an addictive drug! They’re all full of shit mate! If you want to get a true understanding of the drugs and their affects on people? Talk to the addicts! The so called professionals know diddly squat about any of it?
