Drug Paraphernalia Possession Questions?

Question by Gkdasj Skdjfakj: Drug Paraphernalia Possession Questions?
I was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia (marijuana pipe) in Colorado in 2012. I was and still am a minor and had a few questions regarding certain topics.

I was issued a court date, faced a judge, plead guilty (obviously they had evidence), was charged with $ 100 fine, no community service/probation, etc. and then was free to go. My questions are:

Is this on my ‘record’? If so for how long and who can view it?

I’m filling out employment applications and they ask if I was charged with any crimes, not felonies, but how should I respond? I could be honest and say yes and explain later on if I was called for an interview or should I answer no because it was dismissed so easily and in the past and I’m not even sure if it is still sticking to me on my record.

I was 19 yrs. old. I am 31 years old now and have had no other felonies. From the point of obtaining my bachelor’s in paralegal work, I would like to continue my education to become a lawyer. Is this possible in North Carolina or am I wasting my time?

The felonies are 12 years old….but they are felonies. You may have difficulty becoming licensed in NC, if they are sticklers for “no felonies.” However, most measure you as a whole and if nothing else has happened since then, you may be able to pass the moral character background/evaluation.

Do You Agree With Gov of New York Criminal Aliens in N.Y. May Be Pardoned,?

Question by Maricopa County: Do you agree with Gov of New York Criminal aliens in N.Y. may be pardoned,?
In a move to shield criminally convicted immigrants from deportation, the governor of New York has created a special pardon panel to forgive individuals of state crimes that under federal law require expulsion from the U.S., according to a report from the public-interest group Judicial Watch.

Governor David Paterson is suffering from dismal poll numbers as low as 29 percent favorability. Critics claim he’s trying to duplicate a political move by President Bill Clinton when he pardoned Puerto Rican terrorists who perpetrated bombings and killings in New York in order to help his wife, Hillary, in her race for New York’s U.S. Senate seat.

What Say You 85 Arrested in Colorado Immigration Sweep Why Would ICE Snag 85 Harmless Illegals?

Question by DEGREASER: What say you 85 Arrested In Colorado Immigration Sweep why would ICE snag 85 Harmless Illegals?
DENVER — Federal authorities said they arrested 85 immigrants who were fugitives or had prior criminal convictions during a four-day sweep last week in Colorado and part of Wyoming.

“These surge operations, and our daily targeting of aliens with criminal convictions, are some of the many tools that ICE uses to effectively reduce crime at the street level in communities throughout the United States,” said John Morton, director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, in a Monday news release.

During the dragnet, ICE agents and local police located and arrested 82 immigrants across Colorado and three in Wyoming, the release said ICE officials said 78 immigrants had prior convictions for serious or violent crimes, including sexual assault, possessing and selling dangerous drugs, drunken driving, assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. In addition, 18 of the individuals arrested were immigration fugitives with outstanding orders of deportation who had failed to leave the country.
