Why do celebrities have such a bad influence on America’s youth? Celebrity influences are present in today’s society. These influences are mostly present in teenagers lives. Their lyrics in their songs, the rolls they play on screen and their personal lives they are on display for everyone to see at all times. What they choose to do and not do is viewed as the right thing by their young fans.

America’s youth are very influenced by music because they come in contact with it daily. They have music on their phones as ringtones or on their facebook page to describe the type of person that they are. The music that they listen to or that is given to them by celebrities is more often containing lyrics that insight crime and drug use. Rappers proudly flash wads of cash on their music videos with lyrics endorsing selling drugs and committing crimes to obtain this money. Youth believe they are like them because they may grow is the same conditions, such as poverty, and when this rapper that they relate to sings about selling drugs and committing crimes they then relate to that to. These youth desire to have that same fame and money when they listen to these lyrics so they go about the same wrong ways to get it which more often than not leads to bad consequences. Famous rapper T.I. , who has many young fans all across not only America but the world, faces up to 30 years in prison from felony guns charges. This is a very public trial and when young people that admire T.I. see the trial they may think that it is cool to carry around guns and to serve time in jail. They don’t understand or consider the dangers.

Influences dome from not only the music industry but from on the big screen. Movie stars develop many young fans on the screen and it carries over to off the screen. Actors and actresses drug use is viewed by many as cool, harmless, or fun but it leads to a devastating lifestyle. Heath Ledger’s drug became public in 2008 when he overdosed on a deadly mixture of prescription pills. Although his death was tragic and at the peak of his career, the drug use is still viewed as cool by his young fans and his death, although it sounds horrible, is almost viewed as a career choice.

Whether it be a celebrities drinking problem, a movies stars eating problem, or a rappers drug problem, today’s famous few are creating a bad influence on America’s many teens.
